What is a Personal Customs Clearance Code?
The Personal Customs Clearance Code (PCCC) is a unique personal identifier issued by Korea Customs, used when declaring imported goods. It applies to all overseas purchases including China direct-buy and overseas online shopping. It is a 13-digit code starting with the letter 'P'.
Before March 2015 you could use either your resident registration number or a PCCC. Since March 2015 the PCCC has been mandatory, and resident registration numbers can no longer be used for import declarations.
You must obtain this code before we can process and ship your purchasing or forwarding order. It is used in place of your resident registration number, reducing exposure of your personal information.
Before you start
- A mobile phone registered in your own name (SMS or PASS app verification — the fastest method)
- Or a joint/financial certificate (공동/금융인증서)
- Your name, resident registration number, address, phone number and email
Important: the phone must be registered in your own name. If verification keeps failing, double-check your carrier, name, date of birth, gender and phone number. If it persists, contact the Korea Mobile Verification Center (1644-1863 / 02-2033-8500).
How to issue it (6 steps)
Visit the Customs portal
Go to the Korea Customs PCCC portal at unipass.customs.go.kr/csp.
Select the issue menu
If you don't have a code yet, choose 'Issue Personal Customs Clearance Code'.
Verify your identity
Choose one method — mobile (PASS app), joint/financial certificate, or simple auth — and complete verification.
Fill out the form
Your name and RRN are auto-filled after verification; enter your address, phone, email and consent to personal-data access.
Get your code
Click 'Register' and your PCCC is issued instantly. Save the number somewhere safe.
Manage duplicates
If a code already exists for your phone number, a list appears. If a valid code exists, reuse it instead of issuing a new one.
Once issued, simply enter it in the 'customs code' field of your purchasing or shipping application.
